The collective of fishermen’s guilds of the Basque Country and the inshore fishing producers’ organisation, Opegui, have launched the Kofradia – Itsas Etxea project, which was created with the goal of promoting and enhancing the value of inshore fishing in the Basque Country. Opegui is a non-profit organisation founded by the fishermen’s guilds of Gipuzkoa in 1986 and is recognised by the European Union.
